D30/D44 Disc brake conversion.

Post by VooDoo »

Ive been looking around for info on swapping the drum brakes for a Disc setup but havent found what i need. Pleanty of threads on how to do it but not what parts are required. Will TJ brakes work on a CJ D30/D44 setup? Are most D30/D44's the same? Any recomendations where i can get these parts? I dont mind if i have to rebuild calipers or get new rotors but its all the other parts im not sure on.

The first thing that springs to mind is use JK parts.

You would obviously use the "C" outers, bearings, disks, calipers etc. Splines differ between a JK D30 and a JK D44...

Just a suggestion - not a known fact.
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

If your looking to make your own, then anything will do. just make up some mounts and get the disc thickness right.

If your looking to buy then I am pretty sure that CJ stuff won't work and D35 and D44 stuff will be different.

List of buy items.

I would personally recommend putting money into your front brakes and leaving the rears alone.

TA Luke.

Id love to order from the US and get new parts but the shipping is crazy. I ordered some flat panels from quadratec with a bolt set for around $300US and they wanted $500US to ship. Trying to find a cheaper alternative (missed steelarts container :( )

Maybe try Wooders or another Jeep parts specialist. If you don't mind waiting a month or so, a few of the stores ship the large/heavy items in containers.

Wooders doesnt really do CJ stuff (nobody here does really :( )

It might be cheaper to actually go to the USA arrange a heap of parts and ship them myself. Can get return flights for 1k these days.
