Hey guys, did a search but couldnt find anything on the topic. I'm setting my SWB GQ up for some pretty serious trips, and was wondering if anyone knows if GU Side steps and brush bars will fit the GQ? Obviously I'll need to shorten the steps as they will be designed for a LWB, but will the brush bars in particular work on a GQ or will they be too wide? I have a TJM front bar and will be using TJM steps and brush bars (helps when you work for TJM ), but if they arent going to work I'll have to go custom unfortunately.
Cheers
in advance
Evan

GU Side rails on GQ
Re: GU Side rails on GQ
if you have a friend at tjm why dont you just buy the right length bar to suit as gq instead of the wrong bar for the wrong shape?
anyway not sure if this info helps you compare cabs or not but with a gu arb side step (measurments taken at the back of the drivers door) the step sticks out 40cm from the outside of the chassis and the step is 16cm deep with a few cm clearance to the cab.
I know they are not tjm steps but it might help you work out how similar the cabs size is - my guess would be they will not fit well.
If your setting it up for serious trips why waste time on side steps? just go sliders the side steps wont do much if anything.

Re: GU Side rails on GQ
The only reason i'm asking is I work for TJM so want to get as much gear on the truck as possible for promotional purposes. TJM dont manufacture rails for the GQ, and we have a set of GU ones sitting which I would get for the right price hence the question. I thought it was going to be a bit of a pain in all honesty, so will probably just knock something up myself. Oh and strength wouldnt be an issue, we have a few tricks up our sleeve. Cheers for the reply though.

fair enough it sometimes suprises me how soon companies stop producing things for what are still commonly used vehicles - though i suppose the number of people looking to pay for new kit on gq's is dropping and the shortys are rarer again.Evski wrote:The only reason i'm asking is I work for TJM so want to get as much gear on the truck as possible for promotional purposes. Re: GU Side rails on GQ
For side rails I think it would just be easier to start again. If you know how to use a bender, I dont think the bends would be that hard to get right.
As for the mounting you have already said you have your own ideas that are stronger than the mass produced.
So once again I would start from scratch.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
