lwb cut down
lwb cut down
im looking to cut my lwb down into a single or xtra cab style...looking at doing it acouple of different ways just wanting to know which will be the best way to go.
-1 cut the arse end off my current body which is a highroof safari, if i do this i am also going to cut the upper roof off and put a lowroof top on as i just happen to have a lowroof roof that was going to be used for another truck but never happened.
-2 get a swb bdy and cut that down which seem to be the easier way to go as the b-pillar will be better to work with...only thing is this means i will need to remove old body refit new one, i can get a complete body for $200 off a mate. was thinking doing this i could sit it on the ground on a jig and do the body off the truck which will make life awhole lot more simple for me.
do the mounts line up on the swb body to lwb chassis...??? the bdy i can get is couple hrs out of town.
thanks

Re: lwb cut down
Just my 2cents but either way it is alot of work. don't know how much work you will be saving using a swb body. If it was me, I would be sticking with my current body, But mine is not a high roof safari. So i reckon it sounds like the same amount of work. pick the straiter better body to work with.
Re: lwb cut down
my current body is getting abit hammered but is the easier way to go...
Re: lwb cut down
Try this link. Mine's a dual cab, but you could do the same basic styling with yours. http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopic ... 9#p2022609" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Wanted:

Re: lwb cut down
IF its for road registration
Go consult an engineer as to whats required
When you know what you can do then go from there
The front 6 body mounts are all the same
Many do different styles to suit themselves
There is no right correct everyone does this answer
What do you want ???
Full styleside type ute or tray ???

Re: lwb cut down
i am just going to go with cutting down my body, i got a lowroof roof for a box of beer and just had to cut it off the truck so i am going to just cut couple inches under the driprail line and put new roof on. i am going to make the cab alittle longer than a single cab just to be able to put the sits back alittle more. the truck doesnt go on the road and and will make up a small tube tray to put my other winch on etc and spare 37.
