few 80 series questions asap

Post by chiso92 »

hi guys, got a diesel 80, when i start it from a cold engine i have to wind it over for probly 3 or 4 seconds then she will idle, but for the 1st 30 seconds or so it sounds like its missing and coughin an fartin but after a minuit she is sweet, i was thinking injectors or glow plugs??? help???

and also if i just fill up the sub tank can i just use it just as a normal tank, as in not having to pump it to the main tank??

cheers

Not sure on the diesel tank setup, but the petrol works by transferring from the sub into the main. I imagine the diesels would work the same.

it's very likely glow plugs. In the diesels, when you press the sub fuel button fuel is drawn from that tank. No transfer happens. The petrols transfer because there is a high pressure pump in the main tank as part of the efi setup.
The worst part about being told you have Alzheimer's, is that it doesn't just happen once.

rough idle could be a little of both injectors and glow plugs.

you can use the sub-tank only. as abaove, the diesels don't transfer fuel to the main tank. valves shut off the fuel lines from the main tank and open lines from the sub.
