AORC - RND 2 - FINKE DESERT RACE 2011

Hey Col.

I can get some photos of the truck Saturday for you if you like - and with Billy's permission I will post a few up.

Just I have been wanting to take some photos of the #441 for a while now! There should be plenty of photos up and around on the internet over the week of festivities out at Alice Springs.

For anyone interested - and on Facebook - join the Offroad Cartel page on there and Josh and I will be doing continual photo and story updates to keep everyone in the loop...
That'll include pre-run photos, working bees on the 441 - and stevo taking on the 2KG!
It'll be heaps of fun - so if you have access to Facebook, jump on, join up and get involved!

I really don't think we'll have enough time to do video's on the fly - but you never know - we are definately trying to collect enough footage and hopefully we can get some event clips out asap.

It's definately an amazing race and it sure has me locked in... I reckon we all just book permenant accommodation at Stuarts Caravan Park now for 2012!!

Hey guys, I have a spare powered site at Stuart Van Park, and also looking for an extra person or persons to help Phil out St the 80km bike and quad fuel stop... He will be out there camping the night before and night during the race, if I can't fond anyone I'm going to have to leave the quad at home and help him out because I've had aate pull out unfortunately... And I don't want to leave him to do it on his own..

So please let me know if you can help or want the camp site, cheers Mosko

From all reports Billy's new enclosed trailer is ready to go after some extensive mods - and sticker work - ready to head to Alice Springs tomorrow morning!

Look out for the Dodge Ram towing a large Gooseneck Trailer on the way from CQ to the Red Center and make sure you give the boys a wave as they motor thru!

And Mosko don't stress buddy - that's pretty much how Finke went for us last year with people that were meant to pit, etc deciding they couldn't come at the 11th hour... Swaf, Bill and RD saved us last year!
But that's Finke and there'll be plenty of crew out there with the OC and further abroad!
I'm 100% confident we've got it covered.

Unless you are a little scared that the track is gonna hurt you.....

Mosko If your stuck mate I`m sure we can take fuel round to finke for you if you want mate. You wont probably need anyone at finke itself then you could roll a swag out with us if it helps.

Well the boys in the #441 have had an eventful trip to the Dezert!



Billy and Jamie headed off on Thursday Morning with the intention of hitting Alice Saturday Morning.
Originally the trip was moving along nicely with a short sprint to just out of Mt.Isa for a rest (where the above photo was taken at daybreak)
and then on the road early to Alice - however a wheel on the trailer decided that it didn't like the 130km speed limit on the way to Barklay Homestead and decided to make it's own detour into the bush!

Luckily Berny Gwynne came to the rescue with a step deck and semi and the #441 continued on it's merry way!
With the Dodge now towing the 3 wheel trailer - Billy was due in Alice Springs this afternoon.

There is already a large number of moto and auto class competitiors getting around Alice - JC said that the town was abuzz with the pending race!

We will be doing regular updates on outers during the course of the event. - or keep up with us on the Offroad Cartel FaceBook account!
Also we are TRYING to get video's up regularly on our YouTube page time permiting!

Hopefully Billy, Jamie and the #441 have a flawless run! That way there'll be plenty of time to do regular updates!

Wow !What a crazy couple off weeks!Big thanks to Jamie first of all, not only did we leave too many jobs to do out there the late nights and early COLD starts were insane.Thanks to Swaff,Josh,Dan and Jc for pitting alongside Stevo who was awsome the dude was gutterd by his own defeat by the 2kg steak but managed to push through the pain and be in the right spot to help us get the old girl back to alice.Thanks also to the brissy guys and The ledgend Bernard Gwinne who drove 750 k to help us with a busted trailer.More soon...Billy
