Transfer Case Seal
Transfer case is leaking from case to front diff. Is this hard to replace by myself and what is the best way to attack it? Cheers
Re: Transfer Case Seal
assuming its a 75???
I haven't done a 75 specifically before, but if its like the others i've done, undo the drive shaft and remove it. get a rattle gun onto the big nut on the flange and remove. carefully prise out seal and refit carefully.

Re: Transfer Case Seal
If it's the early split case, as above. If it's the later fzj/hzj75 case then the case has to be dismantled to get to the front output seal.
Re: Transfer Case Seal
So by splitting the case this would mean buying the full seal kit with bearings and seals, yes?

It's wise idea yes since you have it all apart.cruise75 wrote:So by splitting the case this would mean buying the full seal kit with bearings and seals, yes?
Re: Transfer Case Seal
I rebuilt my transfer on my 75 a while ago, wasn't too hard.
I just bought a good detailed workshop manual and it all made sense once i split the case. took a few pics before i pulled things apart which helped.
