100 series gearbox

Post by fumduk3 »

are the GXL petrol and turbo diesel 100 series gearboxes stronger than the R series box behind a STD 1HZ 100? can the petrol or turbo box be put behind the 1HZ fairly easily? does the 1HZ bellhousing bolt to the petrol box?(thinking this cos there are a lot more petrol manuals than turbo manuals at wreckers), then fit a petrol clutch? does the 1HZ flywheel need to be redrilled to suit a larger dia. clutch?(if i cant get a turbo flywheel) or can either of the 80 series H series box fit a 100? Basically want a stronger 5 speed box in the 100 DX the simplest way, thanks all

Get the h150f gearbox. I do believe it has the same spline for the clutch as the R box. The shifter will be in different position as far as Know. Not sure about the range leaver tho.
Also need to change the diff ratio from 4.3 to 4.1 to better match the H150 ratios. No idea what that will do to the speedo tho. My guess is it will. Don't know about the gearbox cross member. Should bolt straight in otherwise.

R series bellhousing won't bolt to H sereis box. 80 series 1hz uses the H series box, should be easy to find and will bolt straight up you can also get the part time transfer with it if you want. Not sure on lever position but should be the same as 105 series.
