Headlight gremlins

Post by Black Bull »

Hey guys.
I'm currently out in central NSW, and I'm having issues with my headlights that I can't seem to sort.

First up for those of you who don't know, it's a 91 80 series, with a 3FE.
I've lost my high beams, The dip switch on the steering colom still brings on the high beam indicator light on the dash and spot lights, but the 4 high beams don't light up. I've been playing with it for two days and have had no luck thus far, I've even tried manually activating it from the wires on the dip switch, but no luck.
From what I can tell the dip switch seems to work ok.
Checked the fuses, all ok.
Checked that the lights aren't blown, they aren't
Only has one relay that I can establish which powers high and low beam which also works

Can't find and loose/broken earth points, bout to burn the bloody thing :bad-words:

Any suggestions ?

Is ther power at the light.... toyota are normally switched in the negitive. so ther should be powere at the lights.

i would look at replacing the indicator stork and see how you go from there.

Yep they run a switched earth.
I ended up teeing off a relay from the power side which switches the earth on High beam, it's not perfect but it works
