Re: SOA My 75
ok thanks man ill go with that for now.
and yeah still changed the P angle a little i think 8 or so deg cant really remember. but it meets the drive shaft at a good angle. im not sure a 40ml spacer from locktup will be enough though im trying to figure out how much it slips on front diff droop. and my cross member may need to be altered as the shaft will hit on droop.

Yeah you can just notch and plate the cross member, mine clears no worries with a low pinion diff. So did you do a cut and turn to fix the castor after you changed the pinion angle?

Re: SOA My 75
Well i just wrote all this and it deleted so pissed offffff!!!!
Any way i have put the forby back together and found a few speed humps. but for the big picture the car flexes great and drives well, the springs are quite soft and maybe too spongey on the rear as i have a bit of axle wrap on my rear. My right tyre on full left lock rubs on my drag link at the pitman arm.
Photo below
also on the passanger side my drag link gets forced up onto my Hi steer arm on left steering and then falls off on right turning. i have two pics to show what i mean.
ontop of steer arm
Droped off
so i have to remedee this situation, the answer, 2 Inch wheel spacers, as my rear tyres also rub on my chasy on flex, this will help. and at the front it will allow me to put the drag link directly into the Hi Steer arm and clear the tyre, and will also pull over the pitman arm thus the drag link wont rub on my right tyre on full left lock.
To help my issue with axle wrap i will probably look at making/ buying a trac bar, or insert a load leaf to help but not sure what to do yet.
My body lift also needs to come out, i promise i will get some good photos of the complete rig but for now i need to get it going smooth.
ANy way i will be ordering my Driveshaft spacer and my shocks and also wheel spcers this week.

Re: SOA My 75
when i put 2 inch spacers in the front of mine i couldnt drive it, at 60ks it got the death wobbles. i have big offset rims though. see how you go.
Re: SOA My 75
Oh really!
What's the reasoning for that? How did it increase death wobbles?
Did you have D wobbles a little with out spacers?

Re: SOA My 75
I'm not too sure why It does it. At 60 I get a slight wobble with -44 offset rims and a 8mm spacer plate to clear the steering nuckle. But with the 2" spacers shit gets hectic. My mate gets the wobbles in his with just the offset rims. We've checked bearing put castor wedges tie rod ends still does it.
Re: SOA My 75
IFS hubs will give you clearance for the draglink or adjust your steering stops out a bit more.
Adjusting the steering stops will loose your turning circle.
Your body lift blocks look way too small in diameter, which can cause them to push into the floor pan.
Can you fit your passenger side draglink with an 80 series tie rod and fit it too the high steer arm, on the LH side?
Build a track bar, it will make a big difference. It did in my lux.
Truck looks great , how high did the SOA end up?

Re: SOA My 75
thanks mate,
yeah the lift blocks were really only a tester before the SOA to see hight just had the stuff laying around they are coming out any way.
got no turning stops on at moment.
yeah will sort something out with the Drak link i may be able to use a smaller tie rod end or something. Why is the Drag link end so big any way??
The SOA game around 3-4" as the springs are very flat and i had extended shackles before, but from stock it would have lifted around 5-6"

Well got my body lift out, and fixed my steering, im waiting on my wheel spacers and shocks, and coming from the states i couldnt not drive it. so got it driving it drives pretty good.
Alot smaller now with out the body lift, but its good in a way the cops will stay away, also it will be less top heavey, if i need more wheel arch gap there is heaps of shit i can to to achieve it, bigger leafs, extended shackles and so on. but heres a pic sorry it was off my iphone it still takes good photos though. was tonight..
more pics when the tray is done and spacers arrive but thought i would keep this thread alive

Thanks guys, yeah your right i blured the plates. Yeah good plate though hey for not being custom.
well im heaps happy with how it turned out seeing that is was my first SOA
need to just eliminate the Axle wrap in the rear
the front looks a little lower and the rear is pretty high but can fix that.
ill be finishing off my tray (long over due) while i wait for my shocks an that.
im drivin it around a little to try settle everything in so i cant go and tighten up everything again.

Re: SOA My 75
Mate, Looks like a top job you are doing. I'm jealous. I take it you have a very tolerant missus. Mine cracks it at me for having diffs and landcruiser parts all over the place but never gives me the chance to finish it. LOL That link is good too.
Ban Bullshit not bullbars! Four wheel driving is not a crime.
Re: SOA My 75
Thanks mate, yeah she is pretty tolerant haha, its only cos she cant wait to go wheeling in it once its done, and the only way thats gonna happen is if i get the time to finish it. Haha
Any way i better do an update on whats been happening. I got my 2” wheel spacers, and they are probably the best things i have brought, they allow for a heaps better turning circle, they allow my steering links to set up into my high steer properly, they give stability so its good for for cornering, and they make the truck look heaps better. I also got my 40mm drive shaft spacer in and it worked a treat.
I still have to put in my 12” bilstien shocks and my shock hoops, the shock hoops look a little big like they will interfere with complete flexion up into the guard the tyer may hit, any way i also have to finish off my tray sides under neath, and roll bar, the spare wheel to slide in rear under tray. Also need to do something for my rear axel wrap.
But these things will come, also my front bar i might just miodify my bulbar for now to keep me out of trouble.
I also had major death wobbles at around 40-50k it was the scariest thing ever never experienced anything like it, the truck nearly flipped on its side, turns out both my 54mm hub nuts weren’t tight enough so checked all bearings and tightened those up. Also i had my left passanger wheel toed in around 50mm looks like i did the alignment after a hard night on the piss haha was waayyy out. So straightened that up and was great 100k down the road no problem and thats with out shocks, she pulls a little to the right but as you will see in pics i am happy with results.
Any way here are the pics as promised some are with the Iphone so sorry but i don’t drag around the good camera while test driven the thing, some are with good camera. And even one of the side view ZOLT the front wheel could have been further foward may be a good idea to get it further foward but its alright for now.
ENJOY!

Nice work. Now just have to fix your shackles. Look at that terrible angle in the 4th photo down. It may have alot of down travel but it will have stuff all up travel and ride terribly. Get longer shackles and reverse shackle the thing.
Re: SOA My 75
I'd call that a pretty good shackle angle in the front, down travel is good. How many leaves did you end up running in the front pack?

Re: SOA My 75
Bit late for a shackle reversal after he's already done the cut and turn. He'd also need a new prop shaft with a long slip joint. I'd be pretty happy with that flex in the front. The shackle angle is pretty flat but judging by one of the photos, the front wheels tuck up nicely so I spose they do have more than just "stuff all up travel".TheBigBoy wrote:Nice work. Good work Plageman.
Re: SOA My 75
Thats only because he has removed leaves. And the springs are recurving. They arent supposed to go past flat. Thats the point when they break. I had a good long chat with carrolls springs when I did my shackle reversal and got custom leaves made for my old truck. A few of my mates removed their leaves and broke the main military leaf. SOA's are good if thats what you want. But you wont get the wheel to tuck as much as a suspension. Meaning they just lean out alot when rti'ing.
Re: SOA My 75
Is the car built for an rti ramp? No
Is the car built with mega $ in coilovers? No
Thats plenty of flex. Get some nice shocks to control rebound and youll be set.
The new outlaws 45 ute with springover is set with progressive bumpstops about 1" away at ride height. When at full compression the spring goes just past flat. Its controlled enough that the spring should never break.
Ya car looks great plague!

Re: SOA My 75
Yeah thats right (bump stops). Do you see any bump stops to control recurving?
Im not picking on the build. I thinks its awsome. Just giving advice as to do something towards the shackles and recurve issues. He will get more flex (shocks allowing) and also have the suspension controlled. A guy I know snapped his leaves at landcruiser park about 4 weeks ago. Not during the hard stuff. At the gate as he was leaving (flat springs that had recurved). Had to leave it until he could get back out there to fix it. Imagine if that happed on the highway at 100kph.
