Fix it or sell it??

Post by mick87 »

I have a 92 disco 5 door, manual 3.5v8 with a blown head gasket and a clutch that's let go.
So im thinking do i fix it or sell it? What would you guys do?
I should add that is has arb airlockers F&R, Davis performance Landys ECU upgrade (not 100% sure what was done there) extractors, exhaust, snorkel cargo barrier etc.

Edited year model, i need to proof read things lol.

Sounds like you would make the most money if you wreck it.

The whole car repaired is maybe worth ~2k depending on condition. You should be able to sell the locked axles for ~1k disc-disc, so anything on top of that is a bonus. Engine, box and t-case won't be worth a huge amount, but not worthless either.

Keep it older 4wd are alot more enjoyable than newer ones ive got an 88 range rover i blew the head gasket on my 3.5 a while back cost me 1800 at the time i was thinking of giveing it the arse but i ended up getting it fixed havent had a problem since even if you do sell it for parts people arent prepared to pay big dollars for air lockers etc everyones tight so your still going to be behind what ever you decide to purchase next

Thanks for the replies guys.
I have a gu ute as well so was sort of leaning toward selling it either fixed and on the road or wrecking it.
By the sounds of it, wrecking it would net me the most cash.... and that means new stuff for the patrol.
Anyone want some airlockers :P ?

In regards to selling stuff, it would probably be best to PM me, just because i know this site doesn't appreciate trading outside the classifieds.
Im still awaiting approval for my ad to be placed in the classifieds.

Yes. There are a few minor differences, like radius arm bush widths - however '91 may still be the narrow bushes.

Just take the radius arms with the diff if you're unsure. Panhard bolt diameters are also different, but it's not a problem.
