Insuring my SAS Hilux

Post by Oldhenry »

Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone out there with an SASed hilux or surf could tell me who they are insured with and how happy they are with there cover. I have read that some guys have gone with Tcis brokers and aus 4wd insurance but I know Aus 4wd insurance won't cover me cause I'm not over 25. I'm only 2 months of but they arnt interested ATM.
Any help or advice would be appreciated

shannons wouldnt insure my 4wd, they also dont like under 25's

try nrma or justcar, even if its just till you can go with DGA

Justcar would cover mine for me, but DGA was cheaper and a much better. (thats with a lift, engine swap, seat swap, tyres, etc etc, engineered)
If its too much, just go for 3rd party, or 3rd party fire and theft until you are 25

Shannons will talk to Under 25's if you have previous provable motorsport involvement and a good driving record.

Ask me how I know.

yea, fair point, when i asked them about my hsv a while back, they said i had to be in a car club with a 30 year old car or something like that, so yea, the motorsport thing might be a similar deal. but they still did say they dont do 4wd's, so unless you've heard otherwise, wont make much difference.

Insurance is dumb for under 25's for anything fun, I went with 3rd party in my younger days, it wasnt worth paying 3 grand premiums...

I have my hilux insured thru Shannon's.
Full comp, $250 excess on all claims if I remember correctly.
Having 5 cars and contents insurance with nil claims and a rating one for life helps though, and I am only 28.
Dual Cab Hilux, Locked, Lifted & commo V6 rolling on 37's.

Yeah mate, it's Faithy. Doesn't look like I'll make it to the Watagans as I drowned my mates car today. Going back tonight to get it started but I don't reckon he'll be keen to lend it to me again after he has to drive it with a wet seat. Haha
