Engine swaps

Post by Struth »

Hi guys, Toyota man here

I am doing some research and need to find out what are common engine swaps for Daihatsu's.

Need to know what you guys upgrade with and which ones are most effective.

Thanks in advance.

Are you thinking of swapping for a non daihatsu engine?
I remember reading somewhere that VW engines are reasonably compatible with rockys, in regards to mounts...

Can't you see he's a spammer, as he's posted the same thing in many forums? :finger:

I know that 3.8 buiks go into rockys and ferozas pretty easily...

Oy :finger:

So does the buick/holden fit easily and how the heck do you connect it to the gearbox

Not really any common swap done, as very few owners have swapped engines. Of the ones completed include Mightymouse with turbo VW petrol engine mated to Feroza auto bellhousing with vitara auto internals. Sr20 I have also seen done with sr20 gearbox and divorced transfer. There is no easy swap over engine, usually will need to change mounts and probably run a different gearbox.
Given how handy you have been with conversions Struth just pick an engine and gearbox with similar lengths and will suit diffs ratios and wont tear the rest of the driveline apart.....

It was actually a Mazda BPD turbo mated to a AW4 auto then Vitara TCase with wierd driveshafts axles lockers etc etc....
If approx 150KW in a Feroza rings your bell then a mindblowing conversion - however BPD motors are as rare as so less powerfull BP series motors can be used.

All in all not an easy task, and one that on reflection i wouldn't do again given there are better basic vehicles to start with.

Still we all have our moments of weakness.

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

Someone off here (Daihard?) did a commo v6 transplant into a Rocky. Went and sounded great

I'd guess you'd use a Hilux box or something similiar (I say Hilux because they are relitively small compared to alot of others)
if it ain't broke send it to me i'll fix it!
