there is no reason with proper length and rate springs you can't set up the shock with a dual rate kit. A tender spring ( triple rate) is a bandaid for improper spring sest up. Now knowing how limited springs are for you guys to get over there it may be something I would consider in case you had to make due with short or too stiff springs. FOA can get you springs all installed and shipped on the shocks if you need but thats a big guess as to what you may need spring rate wise. let me know if I can help with anything from here.

Just my OPINION.

For the little bit extra it will make it a lot easier to get a setup that will do what you want - vs one that is SH#Thouse - first up.

You become very limited with your ride height options if your out a little, else the springs will dislocate at droop.

BTW i have never had first up success off a calculator......
In fact mine does not work like the calculator suggests it should....

And springs are available locally at $50-$100 per pair depending lengths - which adds up very quickly.

thanks for the response Wanye and Dan...so in short a good investment to get the triple rate just to have that little buffer in spring setup

I decided to post some pics as a few requests for them have been sent to me

Brett have you pulled yours apart ?

i was shocked when mine were dissasembled... The workmanship and care exhibited can only be described as rubbish and im not supprised to hear of others with them that leak

http://www.users.on.net/~ice/foa/foa.rar is a collection of photos. you can see they are littered with ally pieces, scoring on the bores and hammer marks where the miss fitting pistons have been hammered into them. hell the shaft was bent and wouldnt compress so they just hammered the piston down the bore. what gets me is when they were approached with the problem and the photos they didnt give a damn.. chris from locktup offered to replace the lot as he brough them in for me, but its not his fault its foa's assembly, look at the condition of them

have a look at the photos, you can see holes in the cast pistons, they should have been binned in the first place and never made it onto an assembled shock.. there has to be no q/a going on there whatsoever

Lets just say I got my 4 coilovers and 4 bumps with cans for a little over what you would have payed for just your coilovers BlueSuzy.

Locktup 4x4 are a Kings dealer and if you dont mind waiting a while for parts shipping is very cheap.

 If you're going to take pics for evidenciary purposes then perhaps you should wipe off the vaseline off the lens. Not a single one of those pics was in focus enough to to see a single detail. In fact after looking at those pics i'm going to have to go and see a eye doctor for the residual blurring effect. :D

you cant miss the ally chunks all through them or the holes or the scores... yes a mobile camera... all i had there at the time.. probally a good thing you cant see how bad they are.. they obviously dont believe in deburring parts after machining either...

I don't target anyone just the narrow sighted. I have never gone looking for your posts they must just stand out. :finger:

If you re-read the complete thread you will see you got involved with the price pissing contest and then you shun/ down the people that did it. This is why I pointed you out as ignorant.
Anyone that knows me will tell you I do not hide behind any thing or anyone. I simply call things as I see them. I am as upfront and to the point in person.

While I have had the same machining swarf poor QC and all the other problems with FOA. I will say exactly what I said in the Pirate thread. They are a good option for a low price point rebuildable shock. If I were in Australia I would think long and hard before I bought a set just because of the shipping in case there are problems. I would look around and see what was the most available locally if I were looking for shocks. Then weigh that against all the opinions. If you decide to go FOA I would be happy to give them a once over and then ship them to you. I do that for guys here who don't want to deal with it. It costs a bit but at least you know you are starting with a good shock.

for the Record Kings are making my racing a lot more comfortable in the right seat of Bomber these days.

a bit of an update, FOA are talking to me about the shocks, ill let you know what the outcome/any progress is...from looking at the thread on pirate they seem to be making an effort to fix up any previous issues that are out there..

Update, Foa are going to ship out the parts to replace the bits that wernt up to scratch or damaged in my coilovers, they were more than happy to fix them up for me but as you know shipping back and forth wouldnt make sense. ill let you all know when they arrive the time delay since my last post is my own doing trying to find a cost effective way to send 4 coilovers to the states
They are going a long way to make good any previous dramas with their products.
