Ok have talked to Brian at Suzi Shop here in WA he was telling me that when bying a baleno motor check to make sure the block isnt cracked. So Im thinking the blocks arnt that strong what i need to find out is do I keep the original engine mounts which will flex when reved hard or go my treid and tested set up.Which is to use a suspension bush as a mount which gives no flex at all but will never break.Thinking if the mount is to rigid then will I stress and maybe crack the block around were the engine mount bolts to the block
Any ideas would be welcome.
Duncan

vitara engine mounts in a comp car
Re: vitara engine mounts in a comp car
I have never seen or heard of the blocks braking or cracking only heads. The older heads like the crack. I useto brake stock motor mounts every other week till I put in a set of old commodore V6 mounts. They are about 3 times the size. All you need to do is grind off the locating pin.
Re: vitara engine mounts in a comp car
I have seen pics of sierras and a vits with the block cracked with few guys on auszookers.
Seems to be common, but not as common as a cracked head.
Caused no running problems, but had a coolant leak. Cracks between the cylinders, not mounts.
Straight 6cyl vl mounts fit very nice, remove the pin location. Is this what you have dave?

Re: vitara engine mounts in a comp car
Yes well kinda. I payed a little extra $$ and got a set of Poly ones when I moved the motor over into my Sierra but when it was in Nicks sierra it has stock VL mounts. I will probably go back to the stock ones as the Poly ones make the vibrations come into the cab.BlueSuzy wrote:

Another tip is to trim the bolts on the VL mount about 3mm on each end it make it easier to get in. Its a VERY tight fit without doing this.
Re: vitara engine mounts in a comp car
Yep my block was cracked on one of my zooks. it was going in the crawler but it was stuffed so i put a v6 Como a th700 and Hilux transfer with 4.7 gears in
Re: vitara engine mounts in a comp car

Re: vitara engine mounts in a comp car
Untill this thread I had never heard of 1.6 blocks cracking. Can any of you tell me if it was the gen1 or 2 or the Balino converts doing this or all of them?
