3L spun lower bearing???

gday guys well we have come across a 3L at a wreckers it has apparently spun a lower bearing???, they are putting all new bearings, rings etc is there anything i should ask re the rebuild they are doing their saying $2200 long motor inc injector pump alternator etc is this reasonable many thanks for advise

ask which bearing it was.

it may be typical wreckers, throw a cheap set of rings and bearings and flick it off. the 3l are known for stuffing the last bearing due to crap oil etc and snapping the crank. if oil ways are clogged you will just end up with stuffed bearing again.

If the big end was spun, it will most certainly need a new crank. At very least the crank will need to be reground. Realy the engine needs a specilist to clean and rebuild it properly so it will last forever [with proper servicing] if not it's realy just a gamble. You'll get away with a re-ring ect in a petrol, but these 3L's are unforgiving. Throw in a new set of bigend shells without anything else and you'll get 400km max

Are you willing to throw 2K at a gamble ?
