selling my baby .... to fund having a baby

Post by shooter »

Hey all I'm tidying up my hilux to sell, its a 1988 yn67 4wd.
Was going to be my weekend warrior/ project but circumstances changed.

What I want to know is how much its worth so I can put forward a fair price on it so it doesnt sit for too long as ive got a young one due to arrive soon.

About the car - bought it for about 6000 as is no rego or rwc.
4y petrol good compression tri-y headers mild head work 2.5" exhaust.

Came with 34" mud star tyres on a set of five spoke alloys that tie in well with the paint and rims.

Had a Chrome nudge bar and roll bar with 4 x 100w Hellas spotlights on top

Newer alloy tray and sides tail lights etc

Electronic rust protection

Paint is the new hilux metallic blue

3" suspension lift and 2" body lift with ranch adjustable shocks.
Spent 2 weeks tidying her up - brown interior painted black , new jvc head unit and speakers running off a jaycar precision response amp , new door cards, window winders, installed an abr side winder dual battery system with lcd readout and change overbswitch in cab, new seat covers, tidied up all wiring and new switches etc. Then got it regoed etc

Since then ended up fixing/ changing etc -

Tyres to 31"AT on black steelies, new wheel nuts

Replaced rear axle bearings and seals

Rebuilt rear brakes new shoes and cylinders

Replacement tail shaft and uni's

New transmission mounts , engine mounts

Removed 2" bodylift

Removed tint

Replaced drivers side gaurd

New Chrome corner lights

New h4 head lights

Installed Icom uhf and aerial

Replaced swivel hub bearings

Rebuilt drag link

Replaced clutch master cylinder

New chrome mirrors

Rear spot light / reversing light

Bled clutch ,brakes ,repalced all fluids, spark plugs etc.

Sure theres a few things left out

Still to do

Paint the replacement drivers side guard

Change rims, tyres to alloys i removed

Install new Chrome grill and head light surrounds

replace shock boots and shock mount rubbers .

Now I know i won't get my money back on her and didnt expect to as she was a project car. If i sold her regoed n roadworthied and complete what would be a fair price ?!

ha ha if only the mrs wouldn't notice a missing little poo machine then i could have a lot more toys !!! Yeah ive been having a look at what other people have been selling them for that are similar to mine unfortunately with the stuff done to mine most people over look it compared to lockers bullbars on other cars etc even if they are a bit mechanically rough . im going to get her in ready to sell condition and then post a few pics up . guessing ill aim around the 7k mark and be open for reasonable offers, swaps trades and what not .

Now back to the car for the finishing pieces, i got a rough quote for a guy to come out and spray my quarter panel on the spot with paint matching etc for about $250 metallic paints etc included. does this sound reasonable ?!

The shock boots and shock mount rubbers need replacing and the shocks themselves have some surface rust , still work fine but a bit rough so considering tidying them up / replacing but the Australian market still demands a high price for these ( rs9000 adjustables ) at approx $280 a pair. or $150 just for boots and shock rubbers. Anyone know where i can get similar prices to the US market of about $60-$80 a pop and who would fit them for what kinda price ?! tried american ebay btw and they only seem to ship to the us :bad-words:

its funny because if this was for sale in here, it would have the same amount of cars for sale than the classified section,
