cv or hub?

Post by karol »

hi there. last week i overhauled my swivel hubs with all new seals and changed diff oil. now when i drive with hubs locked and in 4wd,there is horrible knocking/clicking noise or bang coming from left wheel. it only happens when i turn the wheel to one side and drive. if i go straight its ok. the knock/click is quite strong, you can feel it thorough the whole car. it even blocks the wheel for a sec like abs when i'm moving really slow. it only happens when in 4wd and hubs are locked. locked hubs and no 4wd and 2wd is ok. i checked the hub and cv today and couldn't find anything obviously wrong.
does anyone know what it could be, or what should i be looking for? its tb42 manual with manual locking hubs?

Is it constant clicking or sort of a bit random?

If its not the CV, I will guess & say its the hub becoming disengaged from the, for lack of the proper term, 'drive collar'.
Have you put the cv snap rings back on in the right spot? Or the spacers behind the 'drive collar'?
