Hello all did a search and didn't see the answers i was after.
Can anyone point me to a build or answer some questions for me.... im just about to do a commo v6 with auto and twin case setup in my lux.
I have the adaper for the auto and mounts are on the way next week with the longer shaft for the auto, have my second case with the shifter already mounted in the case (top mount). Going to order the twinplate case from low range offroad, along with a top shift kit... my question is..... how have people mounted the cases? given how much they move back.
Will it be easyer to move the motor and case asfar forward as i can to keep the shafts closer to there stock length? and keep closer to the stock crossmember?
Havn't got the motor yet so i can't work out what the plan is yet.

Any help is help.

Hey mate I've just got a custom crossmembe to support it. I didn't move my motor. I'm pretty sure bubs customs sell a crossmember for dual cases.

Mate just did dual cases in his lux. Brought a crossmember from somewhere he may see this thread and comment but unthinking it was 6mm plate and both transfers bolted onto it.
93 RV, 5 in tough dog lift, dobinsons shocks and coils, PA, dual fuel, many many oil leaks and a ton of character.

thanks guys, i was thinking about making a plate to bole to the stock crossmember that will come back to pick up the new mount. But will look for these new cross members.

you can gain about 50mm of clearance if you make a custom cross member.

well I have done both (low profile x member & body/engine/trans lift) and gained around 4.5inches. we were going for a flat belly but I would have to cut too much of my floor out to lift the cases any higher.

You can just go with the low profile x member if you dont wanna do all the other work, its the easier way to gain clearance.

As much as I didnt want to bodylift it makes it so much easier for mounting sliders as well.

Well mine has a 3in bd lift in it now, needs to be cut down really. Cool thanks for the info mate, i just noticed that what i was thinking was a bash plate is a x member on on lowrange... but it will be about 500 landed. Also sent that bubs customs fella a text.. this is the car atm, got it blown up for 600 bucks lol

nice truck mate, sounds like a good score.

I have gotten heaps of stuff from Lowrange, they are great to deal with. I considered there dual case x member but once we decided to lift the cases it wouldnt suit. And its also cheaper if you can or have a mate with fab skills

Well that is the way i will go i think, We are wanting to do some more touring. Best if i know it's all soild ( and i didn't do it ha ha ).... thanks again for the info. Yeah she is a good old girl, when i got it it was a mess. Will put a pic up when i get it all sorted

gday mate , i got a dual case lowprofile crossmember from lowrange about 4 years ago and it was only about 420 landed and bolts straight up .i have a vn v8 in my lux all i did was bolt up crossmember than did the engine mounts from there only need to redo the 2 mounts then not all 4.

Yeah that was my first plan after some reading and info i was given, i ended up usen a QLD fell that makes the same thing. 420 landed in tas, from lowrange they are about 470. So much of a muchness for cash amounts.... but it has to be better to spend money in Aus when you can these days ha ha. The longer auto shaft and v6 mounts came today, so soon as the lowrange gear comes i can drop it in. How dus the V8 go over the V6? much in it?

You use your stock chassis cross member bolts, use the standard transmission mounts on the t-cases and we supply counter sink screws for the mounts to keep it smooth to help slide.

can any one help me out i've been looking a doing transfers in my hilux i have been look at the marlin crawler dual transfer adapter and the twin stick kit now my questions are

-has any one used the 10-degrees rotated adapter (is this worth it)
-if a dont use a stock top shift transfer case will i need to get a top shift conversion kit as well

The second transfer has to be top shift so you need a top shift transfer or you will have to convert it.

Hey quick question on the top shift kits what do they actuly do and if you cant get a 1st gen transfur can you put the top shift kit in so you can use two of later model ones like out of a 84 ln65 for dules

Yeah mate a top shift kit is to be used on a gen 2 or 3 transfer to make it work. All a top shift kit is are the parts they changed between gen 1&2

I am sure i saw a link somewhere showing how to use the existing parts in your forward shifting case to convert it into a top shift.
Will try track this down.
