vitara clutch which to by for comp truck
Im building a comp truck for next years Tuff Truck it will be based on a 97 swb vitara with a 16b motor standard 5spd but a divorced sierra case running 6.4s the diffs will be after market 60 series houseings running 5.29s all to turn 40 inch comp spec treps.
So I need a new clutch the fly wheel will be machined and a new spiggot bearing fitted but do I go heavey duty or stay standard have heard there are clutch cable issues if going heavey duty clutch.
So guys please give me some info on which way to go possible part numbers and prices

Re: vitara clutch which to by for comp truck
EXEDY end of story.
One of the guys on here sells them on the cheap but I cant remember who.
just make sure you get the heavy duty one. If you replace the cable with a new one when you put it in you shouldn't have4 any issues for a while. I had one for over a year and never broke a cable but as I said I replaced it with a new cable. I have also heard of people getting a custom cable made that work the treat. Just talk to any of your local clutch/brake places they should know who can make one for you.

Hey Duncan ...
Why dont you modify it to become hydraulicly operated, alot let pressure to operate and would be easy to do useing toyo stuff im sure you still have some left laying around..

Hi Duncan ,been a while
i've got a exedy heavy duty in my jimny, has been it it 4 years now with no dramas.learning drivers, spirited driving, etc etc
i'd use exedy or speak to Doug at NPC (nicks performance clutches) over here if your worried about issues with the exedy .
he has built some great custom clutches for me.
Cheers Drew

i think i9 got a safari tuff in mine duncan, it has been in there for about 6 or 7 years now. you shouldn't have an issue even with a stock clutch with the gearing your planning to run after it.
Cheers Rhett. ps cog swappers are still cool.
