Have they sorted out the oil consumption yet? A mate who is a Toyota Service manager has all his V8 TD on oil consumption reports, 200's and 79's.

Havnt got it yet guys, should take delivery later this month hopefully.

Havnt decided on a module yet but the german one looks the go. A guy here in perth is making custom turbos for them now so pretty keen to see what is possible from it.

It looks like the oil consumption issue is pretty hit and miss. Could come down to alot of factors really.

I have a mate that is a mechanic who reckons driving them hard is what makes a difference. Because they are so powerful, your typical soccer mum, housewife etc never drives them hard enough to bed everything in properly. My mate reckons if they are run in hard and driven hard they wont have trouble.

Of 3 I know of - 2 are using oil and are on oil watch with toyota. Mine doesn't appear to! Maybe towing the fark out of the work trailer helps it!

Our V8 cruisers at work are generally shot to bits after 90,000km flogged to death and not worth 2 knobs of goat shit. Our newest one is in the workshop atleast once every 2-3 days. Mine sites are tough on the gear though. Think of the shittest road conditions over and over for its whole life.
Get out there!!

our workshop ute has had 3 clutches before 25000km. but the site im at works rain or shine and all equipment lasts half as long as expected. we get 3500hrs out of tyres on 789s and do a tyre a week on every light vehicle.

we have all light vehicles serviced off site (too much gear went missing with a shop on site) and we keep a 4wd business going because of our 9 pit vehicles alone. a mine site is nothing to base a vehicles longevity on... ford rangers from leibherr lasted 1 week before front diff, transfer and front suspension all needed replacement... mines are TUFF on vehicles... nothing jumps as high or as far as a work landcruiser

Beige bro, the metallic red would've looked pretty good too, but I want a practical lighter colour. Plus almost every new 70 is either white, silver or graphite and I wanted something different. Oh and it's as close as I could get to 45 series dune beige for some nostalgia. :drinking:

Do you have to activate it somehow?

We have a 2010 GXL wagon for work and it does not have a clock in the radio but our 2010 Hilux SR with the same radio does have the clock.

It is very annoying to not have a clock when you have to fill out a log book.

You sure? Have you checked the owners manuals etc and asked toyota? Might need to program the display, Dads 09 model has the clock in the radio

yeah its a pain in the arse! all toyota radios are the same so I googled it and found it on a rolla forum. Have to hold down a button or something. I'll see if I have the paperwork in the glove box.

Its not in the manual,

cheers bru

edit try this from some forums I just gooogled:

Yep that did it hold 4 and up on the seek up.
Thanks alot,
Craig
There's already a clock above the HVAC controls (ZZE-122R) or in the instrument cluster (ZRE-152R) so why have a second clock?!? Just turn it off – accessories on, radio off, hold tune up button in, press 4 or vice versa.

While holding the AM button, adjust the time by pushing the NUMBER BUTTONS 1-2.

Hour adjustment ...... is NUMBER BUTTON 1.

Minute adjust ........ NUMBER BUTTON 2.

I hope this helps.

Thanks. I tried that today and it worked!

Very happy to have a clock in the car now.

While we are at it, anyone know what the big plastic hole filler above the radio is for?
I always thought that was where the clock went in other markets/models.

Its for a $700-1500 clock depending on if you buy through ebay or toyota.

I've got the 1VD motor in my 105.

Chip and exhaust make a massive difference, especially low-midrange. I went with the Tunit chip, started on setting 5 but have wound it down to 3 now to get a balance between power and fuel consumption. Very happy with it, and no problems.

I've also heard good things about the Steinbauer chips, but because they use twin modules they are about double the price of most of the others on the market.

Not using any oil in mine to speak of. Maybe 500ml every 10,000km which I'd consider normal. It was using maybe 2L/10000km initially, but then on the suggestions of a few blokes on LCool I changed to a thinner 10W-40 oil which eliminated the consumption.

Congrats on the upcoming Cruiser Zoltan, you're gonna love it.

Just delivered a Graphite one to a customer last Friday, took 4 weeks to prep including 450lt diesel tank in the tray + 4 x aluminium tool boxes all in chequerplate, on top of lots of other goodies.

The customer wanted Nav fitted to the car before delivery so we had our local electronics joint fit a new Garmin widescreen unit to the drivers A pillar, with hidden wiring etc. When I went to pick it up they gave me the good news that Garmin have recently released a feature where you can have guages and fuel consumption information for compatible vehicles by connecting the Nav unit to the vehicle diagnostics port under the dash.

It looked awesome and although slightly wanky gave some useful information, thought you guys might be interested, not bad for $399 fitted and then you've got Nav as well !!

When on the guages selection it ends up looking like this - (I'm pretty sure the bottom right guage was EGT but can't promise)

My bosses brother has 1. Put 5 lift from superior engineering and 35" claws. He got a 3" straight threw beaudesert exhaust with a STIENBUER. ( dunno how to spell) and put out 132.3 on the dyno can power slide to 3rd cog. Goes so hard.

Looks snazy. But how is the mounting position on the A-pillar legal? Doesn't it obstruct vision?

Not at all, would think it's far more legal than having one suction cupped to the middle of the windscreen with a chord hanging around.

He's coming in next Saturday to have the rope box's refitted under the tray, I'll try and remember to get some pics then for you guys.
