what are peoples thoughts on the 3l crd? reliability being the biggest factor

I drove one the other day. Great power for it's size and seems alot more refined than others with a similar capacity. Not bad bang for your buck really. I am looking at getting one as a tow/dd aswell. As for reliability, I think that it being a Merc V6 help sway my judgement. Plus my only other options would be a navara 550, pathy 550 or jump up to landcruiser. All of which are a fair few more $$$$.

If you're talking about the WK2 JGC (2011 onwards) then it's not a Merc diesel, its a VM Motori engine (50/50 owned by Fiat and GM). The WK JCG from 2005 to 2011 had the Merc Sprinter diesel in it...
