Disco 1 & 2 power windows?

Post by bad_religion_au »

What normally goes wrong with these? is it just the motor/reg?

I'm looking at a couple of disco's at the moment and they all at least one window that won't go up or down. Now if it's just the reg/motor, it's not too bad, because i've found some regs/motors on ebay for $150, but if there is a deeper problem, should i just pass over these cars i've found?

The bunnings fix is to find an appropriately sized sliding door roller to place where the broken plastic runners will be. I searched for a runner that would be a close fit but no luck.

Another fix is just to cut up a nylon cutting board to the right shape and grease the rails up a bit - this is what I've done for mine, dead easy to do and dirt cheap.

Best fix I've seen was a dude machined up aluminium rollers to replace the plastic ones. There are a few threads on AULRO with pics etc on the repairs.

Yeah i've done the bunnings fix on wifey's disco, works a treat, cost around $4 a roller. Will see if i have a spare roller in the shed to get the part number from.
