Stainless snorkel bending?

Post by sir_142 »

Hey people,
Can any one recommend where in Sydney I should get a snorkel bent up in stainless for patrol? Was gonna try a exhaust shop like Liverpool or something, any ideas?
Cheers

Given the size of a snorkel, I'd say they are generally welded up using pipe and pre formed bends, the smoothed off and pickled.

Heres what mine looked like on the Dudelux, red edition.

Im planning on modifying the mount for the A-pillar then fitting it to the Dudelux, yellow edition.

I dont think you could bend the SS due to the thickness of the tube.

Or you can use rubber bends.

Or use Tube (1.6mm wall) rather than pipe (2.11mm for 3" [80nb] sched 5, 3.05mm for sched 10) etc. and use bends, then tig it.

tube bends from midway metals in yatla.
rubber bends from a truck shop are about twice the cost.

Rubber is better for racing, s/steel for street

Yeah Mr Smarty-Pants.
The snorkel was tig welded by some specialist SS welders.
The guard was butchered by me, true ghetto fab at its finest right there. I dont own a holesaw, so I just used tin snips and sidecutters.

why one piece snorkels?

Ive crushed my snorkel twice now and each time i could replace the ss sections really easy.

Tube and rubber bends ftw

Not to mention if it gets caught on something you'd rather it pull apart than pull off your fender...
