Ignition switch Fault

Post by McGyver »

At the moment when i go to start my patrol (gq wagon, 93 RX model, 4.2 EFI)
if i turn the key nothing will happen and to get it to start you have turn it back to off then push the key in hard and turn on for it too make contact so it starts.

two questions 1. will the entire ignition switch need to be replaced or just the barrel and 2. is it a hard job as i have never replace either before.

thanks in advance

Lindsay.

Remove plastic steering colume cover, check ignition mounting bolts are tight, also try spraying electrical contact cleaner in the barrel etc.

Had same problem, this fixed it.
