IFS Lux box, What pump?

Post by BlueSuzy »

Hi all.

Im currently converting my Sierra to a lux ifs box, (lux diffs etcetc) I am wondering what pumps everyone is using?

I think i need a Toyota pump with Multiv pulley. Is there such a thing? Will make engineering easier as then its all Toyota..
I also have a AU Falcon pump, mulitv, well known for their leaks, and are common, But will there be enough pressure for the lux box? I have seen one run with a cruiser box, but still unsure.

But what have others run?

Other info: G16b efi Suz motor, Lux diffs, 35"s. Minimal offset rims

Thanks for any help.

The big saginaw pump has plenty grunt for that box.

My Ford one is a teardrop. Bottle and pump in one.

Is this for normal road-offroad driving or comp?

I will be running a Corolla engine oil cooler, cleaned out. Should be fine for the low pressure return line. No seperate fan but it will be infront of everything, and will have the vitara viscous fan behind it.

Thanks i didn't know what they were called. I know most engine accessories are normally generic in the automotive world, starter/altenator/ac comp etc, but i didnt know about pumps!

I run it in comps with hydro assist and 37" stickies. The pump has a single row V belt pulley on it. I machined the Hilux 3rz pump pulley to fit over the boss of the ford pulley and welded it on as mine motor has the multi row belt.

I used to run the ford pumps but always leaked from somewhere. Mainly around the cap on angles etc.

Have the lowrange pump now. Easy to mount and nice and small with big output. The remote res on these seal nicely as well.

The Lowrange ones were saying for hydro assist, So i wasnt sure..

The caps would have a breather in them, so not suprised, All the one at the wreckers had oil residue around the caps also. Its only a cap, It can be modded.

I will just wack this on and see how she goes.

The ford pumps work well otherwise.
