Coil overs in gq rear
Hey guys, chasing some pictures of coilover rear ends in gq patrols. Having trouble squeezing everything in. Want to run the bottom mounts as wide as possible but also need to squeeze some hydro stops in there aswell. Could scallop the stops into the outside of the chassis but the tires come very close.

Most people scallop the bump stops into the outside half of the chassis. The tyres do come close but as long as they don't hit then no problems. You may want to look at running a larger offset on the rims too.
As for the placement of the shocks, well it depends on what your set up actually is and what you're trying to achieve. Are you running just coilovers or are you also running shocks as well? What is the linkage set up? Basically you want to run them as vertical as you can but have the diff mounts as wide as you can without them hitting anything during articulation or full compression. Also angle them slightly forward at the top so that at full compression they are still at vertical or slightly forward at the top still. You don't want them pushing the diff forward. Without having a look it is difficult to be more accurate. I'm sure there are guys here that have more experience that can be more specific.

Running 'a' frame rear end with long lowers
The bump stops will be about 30mm inwards and come pretty close. Would rather not get a bigger offset.
Only running the coilovers, and it's going to be competing in winch challenge comps.

Well if you're only running the coilovers then you could mount them at the rear of the axle similar to the factory shocks and run the stops inboard of the chassis rail. I haven't got the calculations to see what that would do to your diff on a hard knock though.
There is nothing stopping you from moving the diff mounts for the shocks inboard an inch or so to accommodate the bump stop mounts to be inboard on the chassis. That would stand them up a lot more vertical as well.
Make sure you have lateral bracing on the front edge of your 'A' frame mount on the diff too. It takes all the lateral force that your panhard used to take.

To gain a little more clearance on you bumps to your tyre maybe look at angling in the top of the can. This will give more clearance to your tyre and give a better angle for you bumps when they are hitting you diff during articulation. Rarely will you ever hit you buck stop dead straight anyway.
Only talking 10 or 15mm in at the top compared to the bottom but it will give you the clearance you need to your tyre.
