2.5" bellows intake hose.

Post by KiwiBacon »

Hi Guys

I need to replace an old 2.5" ID bellows hose on a non standard application. It's a rubber concertina type hose about 5 inches long, 2.5 inch ID and has to extend/compress +/- 1 inch. It connects the air-filter housing (bolted to the body) to the turbo intake pipe which moves with the engine. It takes clean and dry air with a slight vacuum and seals with hose clamps on each end.

Bee Utey found an EF falcon application which uses two of them, but the ford parts dealer says they are discontinued. Are there any other factory applications or aftermarket suppliers I can get one from? I tried a silicone hump hose, they are far too stiff.

Have a look on http://www.purplepig.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, they sell all sorts of rubber hose, if you email them via one of their store links I'm sure they could get what you are after.

Thanks guys.

Industrial hose is generally spiral type and no good, I need a moulded rubber type part with ends that seal under hose-clamps. Truckline could be a good second option, I've got my fingers crossed for a falcon part still.

At the back of the engine bay here. Where the plenum on top connects to the dual intake snorkle from the air-box.

Ford NZ doesn't have these any longer, one of the lads on AULRO is going to try and pick me up some new aftermarket items.

Maybe try an Auto gas installer, looks like a hose that was used on between the gas system and inlet manifold on my old 80 series Landcruiser, when I needed to replace it I went to the local gas installer, he took a look, said that's a ford part and pulled one one from a pile of them he had in stock, apparently pretty common.

Do a search on Ebar for "air intake hose" and there is a shed load of stuff come up.
I got my one for the snorkle connection off here. Just ask for the dimensions of what they have, or give your dimensions and see what they can come up with.

I just remembered to have a look.

I have two of those hoses here, still attached to that flattened part of the intake duct.....surplus parts from my EF engine conversion a few years ago. Hoses still in excellent condition and still have the clamps on them. Yours if you want them, just sort freight....

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'm sorted. A helpful Aussie has bought two new ones and posted them. Parts like this are easy to find in Aus, but completely non-existant here. We generally don't have gas powered cars, only forklifts. LPG here isn't cheap.
