GQ Patrol Bearings and Seals, Genuine or Other?

Post by forkcy »

hey guys

Heading off soon for a big trip around Australia and It has come time to replace wheel bearings and oil seals front and back. Just wondering if most of you guys get genuine or just repco parts (whats longevity like)?

Go genuine if the price is right, or any bearing supplier like CBC etc will have the right ones to suit, plus all the seals. They use Timken and NTN just like Nissan, but might be cheaper.

HMM try locktup, they do kits for landcruisers, that include HEAVY DUTY INNER AXLE SEALS..
these are twice as THICK as the genuine stuff
dont know about the nissan though, definately worth the phone call.

his on here by the business name, great to deal with!! very very good service.

Use the genuine front hub seals, so much better than the aftermarket.
As for the oil seals and bearings some decent NOK, NTN, Timken stuff etc will be fine.
Also if you have an early GQ with the front wheel bearing nuts and lock washer, swap over to the locking ring (later) type

If your old stuff is not too bad, then pack up a set of stuff as spares for the trip.

Sweet thanks for the replies, now I know where I am heading.
I’ve done a few before but they really didn’t mater, but as I’m going to be a long way form home this time I have to get right.
