Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge Series-Round 1

Tough Tracks 4x4 Club will be holding Round 1 of their annual Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge at Janowen Hills 4x4 Park on the 14th and 15th of April 2012.
This is a technical short course none timed event with 4 classes of vehicle from Stock "Trophy" class through to our "Outlaw" Class.
Check out our website for current 2012 rules.
ALL vehicles who wish to compete in this event MUST be scrutineered prior to competing.
If you live interstate or outside of the Brisbane area we will be allowing 10 vehicles to be scrutineered on the day prior to competition. I suggest that if you are going to be scrutineered on the day please read the rules carefully and dont assume that if it isn't written that you can do what you want, you can talk to the chief scrutineer Peter Kitchin (0433555430) or Ben English (0418222722) directly if you have any questions or alternatively you can email us at info@toughtracks4x4club.org
If you live around the Brisbane area you need to contact Peter Kitchin on the above number and organize to get your vehicle scrutineered at a time that suits him and you.
One other option is that you can get them scrutineered at our track building weekend on the 31st march to 1st April as our scrutineer will be there. Please contact Tough Tracks or Peter to arrange this.

Tracks look really good. There are some tough exits for Challenge Class, bring your video cameras. If the conditions stay the same, it should be a great weekend. Rocks are dry with a bit of moisture below the surface, plenty of shade and nice and grassy, great for watching a 4x4 comp.

Can't wait! There are a few newly built rigs and loads of second hand toys making their way from down south for this year!! Outlaw class should be FUN!!

Outlaw Class guys - if you haven't competed before, make sure you download the rules & read them - particularly sections 2-4.

These are the rules covering general administration, scoring, safety & general vehicle mods for ALL vehicles - including isolators, how they are to work and where they are to be activated from, window nets, windscreens OR goggles, hi-vis vests & gloves for navis etc etc.

New for this year for ALL Classes - if you leak fluids onto the track you are DNF'd at that point (sorry - I'll clarify that - If your vehicle leaks fluids you will be DNF'd)

It's going to be a great week-end and a great series. Modified & challenge tracks will be fun for spectators & competitors alike - thanks to Brett & Rick - well done guys.

Well the Outlaw tracks have been done and most are technically driveable with some great butt clenching bonus lines if you wish to get extra points.
A big Thanks to Michael Sweeney (11EVL) for wrecking every great line that i thought was going to be hard by going and driving them.
Also thanks to Sonya, Dan Schloss, Ryan and Mick Garner for coming out and giving me a hand with the tracks, also you can blame Mick for one of the bonus lines as he reckons he would drive his suzuki down it.
Well done to Mick G for putting on a show on Saturday and rolling his buggy backwards on the waterfall.
I look forward to seeing all the Outlaws out there, Cheers.

Did you remove the sticker in the rebuild/cleanup before tuff truck?

If so, probably need to get a new sticker made up as I'm sure you want to keep that number. For any online registration purposes and payments, use 311 for now, we can sort it out on Saturday if you need a tempory number for the weekend.

I would just like to say thanks to all the Outlaw Competitors that competed on the weekend for coming along, putting on a great show for everyone and taking the comp the way it should be as a fun, social experience and not a comp where you win "sheep Stations",i personally had a ball running this class for you all.
I hope that all the tracks where challenging enough and that i will see you all at Round 2 at Landcruiser Mountain Park on 9-10th of June.
Next Round i have decided that Outlaw class will be running longer tracks with 2 cars competing on the 1 track at the same time(as long as get enough officials 6 people min.) this means that there will be less waiting around and more seat time.
Hopefully we will see more buggies up there next time to give the "truggy" guys a run for there money as Dave (Firebug)seemed a little bit out numbered.
Also a VERY BIG THANKYOU to all the other officials who volunteered thier time Michael & Colin Kane, Darryn Bradshaw & Scott Sterle. Thanks Guys i hope to see you all at Round 2.

thanks Ben for your effort & yes we were the only buggy but the other truggies performed well & we are hoping to get some more seat time before the next round as it was only Daves 2nd drive in the buggy. Dave & I had a ball & we appreciated the effort by officials. We will be doing the whole series & making the tracks longer & time between stages shorter would be excellent idea. What if you split the competitors in 1/2 & run 2 stages simultaniously & would this mean more stages as well ??
If we had one thing to comment it would be the stop penalty as this killed us on the first day which cost us a possible win on stage 2 & maybe a higher result in stage 1 even with Dave trying to take me out I think a 3 count would be a good idea as you do a 60 count for stacking so basically the same.
Both Dave & I agree that the rear steer penalty could be higher & maybe the cones penalty reduced to maybe a matching penalty of 100.
