Hi, just finishing the build for my vehicle,
Have been using the search feature found a few topics on mudflaps but I was still unsure.
What is the exact material a majority of people use?
Conveyor Belt Material?
- Where can you buy this in QLD (Brisbane)
- How much is it roughly and what are the sizings?
- What colours are avaliable?
What are some alternative materials people utilise for mudflaps, as i am looking for some durable strong mudflaps that do not flap in the wind at speed and i will be chaining these up when off road.
Thanks.

Re: Mudflaps
I am using conveyor belt rubber for my rear mudflaps.
Its about 10mm thick, so it wont flap around in the wind, its held to the tray with some galv chain, and when wheeling, its held up to the bottom of the tray with some more chain.
- Where can you buy this in QLD (Brisbane) - No idea really. Industrial places would be a good start, they might have some outside you can exchange for a slab of beer.
- How much is it roughly and what are the sizings? - Again, no idea, but its generally in rolls, maybe 1m wide by however long the roll is.
- What colours are avaliable? - Black, no idea if they do other colours.

Re: Mudflaps
Mine came from a truck wrecker. I was going to cut up some truck mudflaps to suit but found these being used as truck mudflaps
Cost me $10 and had enough to do all four wheels. Although I've never attached the front ones as I have to make up some brackets to suit.
You could always ask around an industrial estate as any off cuts would be great. I used to work at a place that had conveyors and one use to snap every month or so.
Make sure you don't go too thick though as the material is heavy and you still want it to bend over rocks etc

Re: Mudflaps
I've got a 300mm wide roll of 10mm thick stuff at work. Let me know if you want a metre or so. A 6 pack would get you what you need Otherwise you can buy 3mm, 5mm insertion rubber etc from Blackwoods by the metre. The stuff Bunnings have isn't reinforced and is crap.
Colours for conveyor material, plenty available so long as you want black.

Re: Mudflaps
Most quarrys have plenty of old bits, Turn up with some beers ask, probally give you enough to rap your car. Or look up belt splicers ask them if they have of cuts for sale or free.
Anything is possible, it just comes down to time and money.
