88 Hilux<whats it worth?

Post by ruddelllux22 »

I am putting this question up for a mate so i'm not 100% sure of the little details. He has a 88 model single cab hilux,(body in good nick, brand new aluminium tray),which is all but standard, except for the 253 v8 under the bonnet.he is trying to sell it for his dad who has owned it and been playing around with it for a few years. It is currently unregistered and has no engineers report for the engine conversion. However this car used to be rego'd in NSW so obviously a report has been written for it(but can't be sourced by the RTA as it was done to long ago).I would myself would not buy anything that can't be registered, but thats my own opinion. So with all this info what do you people rekon it would be worth, cos we can't really put a figure on it.

Cheers

Have a look on ebay, theres a few V8 Luxes there at the moment.
Should help your mate figure out a rough asking price.

i bought an 88 model as my first lux,straight as a die,brand new tyres,only needed a pink slip and i payed $1000.
253 is worth fark all especially since its not engineered and probably needs a blue slip

Its Navy Blue, its in pretty good nick,no rust or dents.speedo reads around 240k from memory so i'm guessing drivelines done that, and the motor ran pretty crisp when i drove it.I would think it would suit someone wanting to build a comp truck, but i could be mistaken as i'm not really into that sort of thing

Well thats the thing it was engineered, but no one can source the paperwork,so if theres some way to get it then it should be sweet as getting regoed

If its engineered shouldnt it have a blue engineers compliance plate in the engine bay with engineers cert number in which you can look up..

If its not there i would say its never been engineered...

Correct me if im wrong

Plates are only for qld aren't they?

No plates in the engine bay of the engineered sierra in my drive.

253 with out papers unregoed... It's worth parts and that's it. Unless someone who doesn't know better buys a headache.
*there's a rock, drive over it :) there's a bigger rock, drive over it  there's an even bigger rock, oops broke it  Upgrade broken bit :bad-words:

mod plates are qld only if you had the old rego papers and it was done after 96 you can usually trace the engineer using the first two letters of the report number.you will have problems getting an older engine than the car passed unless its straight gas though.
