Defender LT230 ratio....

Post by Gutless »

Hi Guys,

I had a bit of a search here on OL and found some info on the LT230 case from the defender. The bible was very usefull, but didn't have the info I am after. Basicly, I am trying to find a 1.41 LT230, but not sure what year model I need to get that ratio. Wreckers are usless, and tell me they only came out in 1.003 or 1.9xx. :?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Peter, I believe that all defenders had the 1.41 ratio box, however some owners change them to the disco ratio for highway driving. The 1.003 ratio is also from a LT230 but these were mated to the torqueflight automatic box fitted to some earlier rangies. If you're looking for a second hand unit, you could try MR Autmotive at Redcliffe, British Offroad at Forest Glen (Sunny Coast) - however generally Defender stuff is harder to get 2nd hand as most people keep them. You could log into AULRO.com and place an add in the wanted section.
