Hi all, Got a young mate who has just bought a New TD SR Hilux. Standard highway pattern tires.
Worst. Tires. Ever.
Needs some muddies.
The car has a 2" lift. How big a tire can we jam under it without major works?
He has been told you need to stay with the standard offset on the rims which is pretty flat. Why is this?
Trying to save some work pulling him out with the Zook. Again. He has spent a lot of coin and a lot more in finance and not really got a capable 4by for it yet.
A bit of advice would be great, secondhand tires/rims even better.
Help the young Fella salvage some Toyota pride.
Cheers,
Chris.

Re: New Lux Muddies- How big?
I've seen 305/70R16's fitted up to them with a 2" lift, I think thats probably the biggest u'l fit at that height. Not to sure about the offset, think there more offset for the wheels on SR5's you could chase something like that!
Re: New Lux Muddies- How big?
I have 245/75/16 on my ln106 solid front axle.. And I had to get offset rims to fit them on.. Rubbed on brake line... They might be illegal but who is goIng to look???
Another cheat would be to use axles out of a ifs and put into the solid front.. They are longer by about an inch or so, so will push the rims out further

Re: New Lux Muddies- How big?
any bigger than 32's on the standard rim will rub, they touch on the rear of the wheel arch where the mudflap mounts bigger offset moves the wheel out more and makes it worse take a look at it on full lock and you will see what i mean. saying that its pretty easy to fit 285/75/16's on up to -5 offset wheels you need to flatten the pinch weld behind the muflap that you will see when you take them off to put in the bin. some cars seem to need the body mount trimmed as well
