I would have - but for some reason the engine bogged down... must have been some extra weight in the car somewhere :? ;)

I told you that winch was too heavy.

Well,

As of last week I have started approaching an engineer to see about getting my little car legal and legit for its on-road duties... I'm getting sick of driving around fearful that I'll end up with a yellow sticker on the windscreen. :?

I called up and had a chat to the fellow on Wednesday for a few seconds before faxing through to him a little list of all the mods that are non standard (oddly enough) on the car.

Did a follow up call on the friday for a few minutes and i must say - things were more positive than i expected - didn't get laughed at or anything so that has to be a good start.

First issue to come up for the car though has concerned emissions for the non-standard engine. Apparently because the engine is out of a japanese car, it may not meet ADR 37 - Emmissions for Aust Cars rulings.

So apparently the first option is to get a fancy lab mob somewhere to do some test on the car... But rather than doing that i am currently trying to track down a fellow that used to import Cappuccinos and get a copy of his document stating that Cap's require no changes to meet the ADR37 requirements.

Hopefully if i get this document i won't have to get the tests done :fingers crossed:...

On top of this i still have a few more things to clean up on the car before taking it in for its first "check over" by the engineer. So hopefully these little changes aren't too far away. :)

The other thing that i'm up to at the moment is sourcing a bling new radiator for the car - she's running a tad warm so some enhanced cooling ability is required. :?

Progress Report:

One of the zook club members has whipped me up a little gizmo that will supply a pulse to the computer to make it think that the speedo is hooked up and working. This, once installed, will mean that the check engine light will no longer come on after driving around for a little while (hooray) :D

In other news, no other progress has been made.

The engineer hasn't called me back, and i'm still hassling the cappuccino guy to get me the details of emissions for caps so i can use that too.

One day :?

No mention of the bonnet? ;)

...And my grill attempted to self eject on the weekend. A replacement for this item is also being hunted down - if not for now, then surely for the near future

That’s looking real cool now.

Let Greg know that a friend of mine imported some of those rims from America. They rusted very quickly and they are fairly high maintenance to keep shiny. I think it was because of the chrome quality, then again Greg’s might be Australian?
