Another idle problem (Solved)

Post by grumpy221 »

Ok awhile my NH started idling @ 2000 rpm while speed was over 20kph as soon as i drop under 20kph idle returns to nornal. I just put a newish complete motor in it using the phelem & ecu that came with it. Damn thing still doing it :x . I had thought it was trouble with the high idle sensor but ....... could it have anything to do with the ABS or the cruise control ( which stopped working about the same time) ? I've tring resetting the ecu. It's not a major pain on road ...but off road when i need engine braking it is a real pain. .....Any ideas
Cheers

Check all fuses inside the cabin and under the bonnet too. Has the cruise control cable puller thing (technical term) jammed or playing havoc with the throttle body, Maybe disconnect the cruise cable from the throttle body.

Does it change if your in gear or out of gear above 20kph ?

i doubt it but its worth a shot. Can you take off the idle air control valve and clean it out ? also try the ECU from the old motor ?

ecu is from the old motor (tried both). everything on the new motor came with it so i would think it has got to do with something on the car itself but now at least i can rule out cruise control can the abs have anything to do with it at all ?

I don't think it would be an issue but like the others its worth a shot to disconnect it. I'm not 100% but there should be a large plug on the actuator, Just unplug it with the car turned off and go for a run. ABS wont work but you will have normal braking abilities.

Silly question, but is the accelerator cable properly located in the quadrant at the throttle body (the bit where the cable attached to the throttle). If it is not seated properly, it will cause the throttle to not go to the fully closed position.

Taking the speedo out of the equasion fixes the problem .... so how can te speedo govern the motor speed apart from the cruise control ??

Ecu may need to know road speed, Is it a sensor or cable ?

If it is a cable speedo and disconnecting it fixes the problem, I would say that you have an earthing problem in your system somewhere and the cable is earthing the system. Check all your earth points and there are quite a few.
