Unspliceing plasma

Post by stock 4runner »

Has any one tried to remove a splice from plasma to fit a hook. I am trying to reduce a bit of weight on length by removing the hammer lock as it will hit my fair lead when wound in

Plasma isn't spliced like normal plaited rope, it's kinda stuffed inside like a sock and when weight it put on it the dock tightens and clamps. You may be able to free it by pushing the rope back towards the hook end, you may also be better off just cutting and re splicing it

Yeah same as ski rope. Lol. I guess it can't hurt to try. I wonder if it might be easier if it was wet

If that doesn't work then go here and click on the splicing link yourself. ;)

The question wasn't how to splice. I can already do that fine. It was how to unsplice and if there where any tricks to it.
Thanks for the replys.

That was easy as pie. But I didn't like there 300mm splice so it's now a overkilled 1m. But I know it will never move.
