# Have you ever competed in a teams event?
# Do you think you would be cool, calm and collective enough to race and work as a team with some of your mates??
# Would there be possibilities your mates lack of ability and style could cause heckling from fellow team mates???
# With your powers combined, could your team take the top step on the podium in front of 14 other teams????
# could one of your navies have the speed and skill to claim this years CQ's Fastest Navi award?????
If you want answers to these questions and many more, you should seriously consider rounding up some mates, filling out the nomination forms (Available from Troy Tenheggler by emailing him at troyten@tpg.com.au ) and sending them in on the 21st of July!! (That's when nominations open!)
For those few who have not yet heard about The Lowmead 3 Car Challenge, which is organised and run by the Gladstone 4wd Club. It is a 3 car teams event that focuses on getting every car from the start line to the finish line in the quickest time possible while completing the scenarios set by the organisers.
The event is a really family friendly weekend with great facilities, flat camping areas beside the lagoon, easy access to courses, catering and a bar!
To give you a rough idea of what you are in for the weekends format is usually:
# Fri night meet and great BBQ & vehicle scrutineering
# Sat morning is either a speed run around the perimeter of the property to get competitors to the morning stages, or a casual trip over in convoy.
# Sat morning stages are then usually good warm up stages, with most of them driveable with a bit of right foot. Or there will be scenarios like one vehicle has to reverse through the course while the other two drive forwards, or dead car tow through course. (these stages really show who can think on their feet and work as a team!)
# Sat afternoon stages require a bit of winching, snatching, attempts to drive bigger winch walls, possibly a gps point run, and pretty much just a lot of dirt being thrown in every direction with the crowd being able to
See numerous hills from the one viewing point!
# Sat night is a gymkhana style relay course, where you go flat out, one car at a time and pass on the baton once each car has completed its lap.
# Sun morning will possibly consist of a 1 hour gps run with a In and out scenario where you go and find a point then come back to get a new lot of co-ordinates, around 6 or 7 teams do this stage at the same time.
Sunday also has teams battle it out on the All Terrain course that is really spectator friendly with all the action going on right in front of you!
There will be roughly 10 stages for the weekend.
These stages won't be the same as years gone by, but the format seems to work well and everyone who has raced in the past has had an absolute ball!!!
So guys and girls,if you have any questions please feel free to ask! We want anyone and eveyone to jump on the Lowmead band wagon!! So get keen, get your teams together and get nominated!!
