Glow plugs aren't glowing

On a 60 series 2H.

Checked the fuse.

Is there a control box or regulator or something I should check?

The plugs themselves are less than 2 years old, and they aren't getting power anyway so they're not the issue.

There is a relay that controls the glow plug system. Bolted to the drivers side guard next to the air cleaner housing. Next to the starter relay. This could be your problem as they play up a lot.

Then you have the glow plug timer located under the passenger side kick planel but you will usually get a glow when they play up, just not for very long.

What year? The superglow systems (87+ ?) are a little different. Check all
The connections across the top of the motor for corrosion/shorting/melting of insulators etc. There is also a single wire that earths onto the edic motor which I have seen come loose in a few examples, causing no-glow. IIRC it comes from the same section of loom as the 'sensor wire' which attaches to the first section of power bar for the glow plugs.

its an 84 model. Still haven't had a chance to look into it yet

how do you know they are not glowing? check for the current going to the glow plugs? then work your way down the wiring down there from there

Check the contact where the strip connects to the main strip at the glow plug closest to firewall. I have found a little bit of corrosion here is enough to stop a good current. You can apply 12V to the main solenoid (the brass cylindrical one, not the black rectangular relay) to see if it switches and if the glow plugs light. IMHO you should get rid of the factory toyota 'superglow' glow plug system and put a manual dash switch that connects to that main solenoid, I have done this on both of my 2H engines (83/84) and it made life easier, I don't think the afterglow is really required in an Australian climate.
