shaving diff housing
Re: shaving diff housing
I just replaced the 2 lowest diff studs with bolts and use them for draining the oil.
Mark.
Re: shaving diff housing
How did you work out how much you can cut off the housing.
Re: shaving diff housing
Leave a few mm of clearance to the crown wheel. Go 8mm plate
Re: shaving diff housing
cheers mark, was one of the many ideas i'd come up with.markil wrote:I just replaced the 2 lowest diff studs with bolts and use them for draining the oil.
now to start cutting
Re: shaving diff housing
Theres a thread somewhere on here about shaving diffs.
Whoever did it cut off "too much" , welded the plate on then heated and bashed the plate till the crownwheel had clearance... food for thought.

GU td42 ute with go fast bits and go futher bits
Re: shaving diff housing
I would have cut a slot in it to clear the crownwheel then weld a second smaller plate over the top.
