70watt HID problem

Post by jenno »

Just wondering if anyone has had problems with aftermarket HID balasts causeing radio static.
I have 240 XGTs with the lightforce 70 watt kit and once the lights warm up the radio turns to shit

Easy fixed, and has been covered before in another thread by me years ago, with photos.
Basically grab cable shielding stuff from Jaycar or any of the big electronic mobs. Covered the high tension leads individually and earth the sheild. The high tension leads from the ballast to the bulbs are acting like an antenna blurting out all of that high fequency 90 volts. Need to contain it within this shield cable stuff.

Could also always just turn the radio off / turn on MP3 player.
