Rops WTC Round 3: 27th/28th Oct- Mount Morgan

Post by Mosko111 »

Nominations are now open for Round 3 of the Rops Winch Truck Challenge!!

Round 3 will be held back at the same property as Round 1, "New Chum" is located just on the outskirts of Mount Morgan in Central QLD.
With this being the final round of the series it's going to be interesting to see who comes out on top and takes the series win! At this stage Wild Racing in the turbo Petrol Nissan GQ is leading the series with numerous other teams all still in with a chance to knock the lads of their perch.

The organisers are planning for R3 to be huge with a heap more seat time, with the morning speed run on the Sat looking to be around 25km long, and then also a 4km run up and down a sandy bottomed creek bed with a few winch walls thrown in to keep the navies busy!! Ontop of that there will be a side x side night stage under lights with winch walls at the end of it that will be right in front of the crowd.
After racing is finished on the Sunday the presentations for the Round and series will be held on the property with a bbq dinner fit for a king for those who don't have to pack up and travel home straight away.

Nomination forms and extra info can be found on the WTC website: wtc4x4.com.au/ (Just fill out and send in the Round 1 Nomintation form)

And here's some footage from Round 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VcAeGI-wzk&feature=plcp

Updates:

Team Mudrhino will be heading up to film and produce the DVD for Round 3!!!

The organisers have been busy marking stages and the speed run has been measured to be 20 Km's long with some decent hill climbs and picturesque views for those who are a bit slower! Haha

The Tough Tracks style rock stage will be back again but this time a little bit longer.

The creek is still flowing and has some soft sections so the 3km creek run will most likely get interesting for some :D

There's a few stages that will be testing navigator fitness with multiple winches and longer than normal stage.

Don't forget it's a really good place for camping so come on out for the whole weekend! (No glass or dogs)

Not sure if you know when mick fell over in the rock stage he has fracture two bones in his wrist and still finish the last stage that what happens when you get old. also had to change a wheel on the way home .Also John Casey and Simon dad had a bad fall on the wet rocks . We had a good w/end . Hopfully WTC can use some more areas of the property next year instead the same gully , As the property wants to turn it into a 4x4 park. Using the same area and having the tracks so tight is boring for spectators and teams . May be this is why the numbers are down. May be change the format ,after all what dose WTC stand for .

Hey Brian,

That's not good to hear about Camac at all! He's lucky he didn't have to get out of the car at King Of The Park

I hope even though you have some negatives from the event or ideas on how to change it, I hope you guys still enjoyed yourselves?

I have heard that next year the same area will not be used again, with totally new courses for both days of the event! (Night stages may still be close to camp).
The plan is to use some earth moving machinery and make the sandy creek crossing near the firing range suitable for 2wds to cross (Buggers me how the bloke from the observer got his sedan through the water and sand? :? )
As you may have seen on the way back from the rock stage, there is some really good terrain over that side and it's not very far off the main track, so with a 2wd creek crossing and an area for families to park close to the stages, next year you will be playing in a totally new area!

The team at WTC will be releasing some info on their plans for 2013 in a few weeks time, so when they do i will also post the info up on here.

Cheers,

Mosko

Sheildy Do you compete or help I dont think so you just sit back with you big mouth. I was just saying the property has some great land ,USE IT. It is a winch comp lets make it a winch comp If your worried about the spectators geting out the back. Maybe you can be delivery boy . Your commets is a great way to get more competers ,Idont think so . It cost us a lot of $ to come up there lets make it worth wile I dont see to many of you rocky or glady boys at sss may be its to hard for you softies Dont worrie we wont be back

Haha.
Your right it does cost a lot of $$. I woulda raced the weekend but had a busted chicken wing. And yes I do have a big mouth, but I enjoy myself at comps and I don't really give a fuck who has a problem with it. No one comes up and says they have a issue with it??
I'd do SSS if I could afford it. 90% of us would. Cause like you said it costs a lot of money. I bought a house and now paying it off is more important to me than racing. Same as the 8 day. Was keen until rates turned up :bad-words:

I can be the delivery boy, what do you need delivered? Parts, piss? Kidney?

Hey guys were building a truck for next year and was wondering when you think the first round may be so we got a time line. I work away 2/1 so dont have much time at home to work in it. Will there still be 2 at chum and 1 at duaringa?

Also can someone tell me are you allowed to put an aftermarket turbo on a diesel for modified class.

Cheers.

Hey mate,

The dates for next years events will be confirmed by the end of this week hopefully.
Venues for this years rounds may be changed up a little ad there is a couple more properties that are going to be looked over to see if they are suitable for an event.

As for the aftermarket turbo, go to this link and give either Brad Dukes or Brent Taylor a call, their numbers are on the page.

Hope to see you racing in 2013!
