Kitting out and general discussion 200 Series

Post by Bingham »

Well as i start kitting out the 200 i get to the zorst. Cars get changed over at 3 years at most and dont want to spend big dollars on on full kit at this stage and have to do again and again. Thinking just a quick cut and weld removing some boxes to get some note out of my first v8 without the expense of the full kit. Kits they talking $1300-$1800 ! Question is the very back box i really cant see doing much but old mate said he wants $120 to cut and shut... or $200 for the big box further up the line where the 2 x single 2's i think come in then out the 3.5 single. Has anyone done this?? Want note but without the drone as i sit in it all day everyday...?

Tough Dog lift ordered just went 2 inch medium duty is really the ast thing to go on apart from zorst. Car sat at a great height new and empty but went down like vanbox at the strippers with every accessory! - Fitted outback drawers with fridge runner, arb bull bar (really only one available for the gx so far and roof rack. Uhf tow bar, outback draws, Sherpa hid's & Winch, led camp lights, awnings, dual battery 12 v charger setup as supposed to charge 5 x quicker than normal red arc??? Upgraded both batteries, Fridges in and more sockets than the local broth...

So main questions are the exhaust options???
and am i getting 5 times the charge with my 12 v charger setup over the normal red arc.?? or even double the charge.???

Am not missing my 3L for even a a minute.... am converted :finger: 3L's

I have the cruiser ute so only single turbo.
My exhaust was new dump pipe, new hi flow cat and I have 3" straight out no mufflers.
For the sake of $1500 I'd be getting a proper tuned exhaust with dump pipes. If your that worried about cost keep your factory one to change back in when you sell it.
I fitted mine in under an hour.

If your still nit convinced in buying a full tuned system have a look at just unbolting different mufflers and seeing how they sound. Once you figure out what you like you'll know which ones to remove and get the gap filled!

Exhaust and lift and maybe ....... Sidesteps/ brush bars dunno as gx has no steps for sil protection. When lift goes in ill get couple pics and email to someone to post as im to useless.

Ps i got rid of the 'baby capsule/letterbox snorkle tip ' now having adaptor into safari tip. Sits high but with roof rack looks fine. Also i swapped the 285 70 17 mtzs of the patrol :-) have a feeling eith wt and right foot this thing may eat muddies :-)

It went 3.6 t empty at tip with 8x5 trailer thats supposed to be 250 kg. so 3.35 half fuelled and 3/4 kitted out but not loaded. Heavy farker.

Again 200 dollars vs 1500 ...... Thing as to much power already and chance if keeping my licence very slim :-) so not so much power worried just some subtle note without drone.??????

I already had one of those ...wsssssshhhh bang ones :D

Just got 2 into 1 big box under it removed and is certainly not loud just a bit more subtle rumble and seemingly without major in cab drone so pretty happy and cost 200 not $ 1500 + thus paying for a big portion of the list going in wed..... :D so i am not goot at maths but i feel its pretty good... ill get someone to drive it this arv and ill see if you can hear the thing. They pretty quiet in cab other than tyre noise so intested to see.

Random 'Traction Fault Light' .... anyone had similar? hopefully its not the start of electronic 4wd issues.... Granted it came on while boosting up the beach trying to turn traction off! It cuts out at 50km/hr i think which doesn't help much if boosting in soft stuff at higher tides. Toyota computers said something about steering angle code but reset and is fine for now.

200 going well. Really does haul and is super comfy with weight in and brakes amazing. A little rougher than factory with the 2 inch hd tough dog kit but makes up for it when loaded.

Can email someone a pic or 2 if they can put it up.
