Twin transfers??

Post by tim090 »

Anyone got a rough idea on what twing gq transfers paired with a manualised turbo 400 box would crawl like and what that kinda set up would be worth?

You can get an underdrive from the uk that goes on the back of the transfer so you have 1.2/1.4/1.6 high, high x 2.69 intermediate, 3.32 stock low, 8.93 super low.

$2450 - under drive
$350 - high range gear set
$1800 - low range gear set (in qld)
$190 - under drive linkage
$79 - solid cross pin

That's $4869
Then you need too ship that gear from the uk. Not cheap.
Then you don't have digs either.

No need for the underdrive aswell as the qearsets. The underdrive gives you 4 different gears alone and the lowest being 8.93:1 as evan said so a further 50% lowrange reduction would be overkill.

im well aware of Ashcroft and their products.....thanks anyway. I was really hoping for some cool new tech where someone had converted a single LT230 into a 4 speed. I know of a guy that built his own 3 speed T/case many years ago, and a mates uncle use to build 4 speed gearboxes into 6 speeds for road race, So I guess its possible

I have both Gq twins and an atlas case (built the atlas to suit application but never used it.)
Atlas Period.

Gq ends up long, heavy, both shafts need to change etc. The cost of doing the GQ's myself was dearer than the 3k an atlas cost.

thanks for thinking of little ol me......I was mostly replying to Evan, since I engaged him in the first place considering his comment "you can 4 speed a LT230".....I was thinking (hoping) for something a little more than just a bolt on underdrive...all good though.

hey champ i paid about $1400 for mine. ($300 for TH400) +(about $1100 for GQs already joined)

it crawls ok. not as low as i expected but plenty low enough.

mind you i've blown up 1 th400, and current one leaks like a bastard. this time im getting it rebuilt by an actual shop the last bloke ripped me off.

it is a long setup though. especially with adaptor kit from th400 to GQ then 1.5 transfers.
and its heavy. that said if you use a decent TH400 it should keep on lasting.
