(Qld) Roll Bars

Post by XTREME MMM »

Don't forget you only have a bit over a month left to get your "A" Pillar roll cage complied for the road.

Don't make the mistake of being too late to get done.

No more after the 30th April.

Cheers

Just got my roll cage mod plated yesterday, talk about leaving it to the last minute! Only a few days left to the end of April now.

Had an interesting chat to the engineer about the rule change, asked what about the mine vehicles that will require A pillar cages. He said that the mines are getting vehicle specific roll cages designed and passed for use on the road, if you can then get your hands on one of these approved designs specifc to your truck and build the cage to very strict guidelines then theorytically you can still get a mod plate for a A pillar cage after 30 April 13 but this theory would need to be tested.

At least there is a possible loophole

Mines have scrap "ROPS" and now have 5 star ancap safety rating cars.

Apparently it's caused a few specialized company's a LOT of trouble.....

mine spec has been B pillar and back for a few years now anyway... last i heard they dont allow A pillar style cages as it can impede emergency egress and hamper the efforts of ERT in cutting you out.

BMA and PEABODY have been ANCAP 5 for over 12 months now, alot of people at my old site had issues as they spec'd their vehicle for Peabody sites and then when going to another site werent allowed on as they didnt have ROPS.

I think ROPS and Mine Spec have had their day, they charge WAAAYYYYYY too much for what they do, the cages in the hilux Dcabs and prados dont fit that good and stop you from puting the seat right back and if you have a rollover which alot seem to do, they dont hold up as good as you would hope they would.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown
