has anyone had any experience with converting jeep diffs to gq diffs and how much it costs?

Tell me which bit exactly of a bendy weak Dana 30 is stronger than a GQ or GU diff?
The housing? No.
The Uni's (vs. CV's) No.

Agreed, a D30 is not as strong as GU/GQ diffs...
Depends what you want to do, and what size tyres you want to run. Jeeps do things a bit different than
Patrols and cruisers, they're designed more for crawling than wheeling with speed. And a D30 with 33's - 35's work with no problems as long as you don't go jumping the car or beating on it too hard.
If you want to run big tyres and drive it hard, spending money on the D30 is like polishing a turd...
Unless you can do the work yourself, or have a good mate that can. Swapping in Nissan diffs will workout as expensive as
buying a set of purpose built heavier Jeep diffs.
5-6K will get you a front and 4-5 a rear axle from several Jeep specialists. The benefit is that 99% of these will bolt straight in. No bracket changes, no housing/tube flips, no steering hassles, correct stud pattern etc...
My TJ has High Pinion (a massive benefit for saving driveshaft damage and clearance) D44/D60 which are both way stronger than any Patrol diffs..

OIIIO's D44 front diff wasn't a stock Jeep Dana unit..... I know, I own the car now.
It's a complete aftermarket Solid Axle Ind casting bigger/ thicker axles and tubes, high pinion etc etc.
I run 37's on it, with a 4.7 stroker motor that doesn't get driven lightly. No sign of any issues.

which patrol diffs are the strongest from factory? H233b or H260b? also do they change from a 4.2TD wagon/ute to 3ltr or are they all the same?
i heard that GU are 40mm Wider than GQ so would GQ suit a TJ better?

As far as im aware, the diffs are the same in the front across the range except for the 4.8 which had bigger discs and I think bigger calipers. Ratios are 4.1, 4.3 and 4.6 depending on which motor the vehicle had.
The rear diff is either the H233 or H260 which is the diameter of the crownwheel. The H260 also has much bigger axles as well.

im looking into it AJ, just trying to work out everything i need so the heep isnt off the road for ages again. want to get all the parts here and built so i can just weld tabs on and bolt in.
considering flipping the front or leaving it as is and putting an atlas in too accomodate the driverside drop.

If you've got the cash then go the Atlas route. Will be much stronger than the Teralow and has the advantage of disconnects etc

don't forget its not just the expense of the diffs & putting them in its also new wheels too as the jeep stud pattern wont work on pootroll diffs.
