Ifs hilux wheel alignment issues

Post by changaz »

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has a solution to my hilux wheel alignment issue.
Each time I go 4wding, I generally come out of it with some serious wheel alignment issues. I have twice had to rep,ace tyres due to scrubbing or overheating (a week or so after a 4wd trip)
I don't really want to have to get a wheel alignment after every trip off road, nor do I wanna stay home for fear of bending something in the front or wrecking another tyre.
My hilux is a ln167 ifs diesel.
The first time I replace the idler arm as I thought this was the issue, but next trip the same again but worse!

Hmmm... This is a common side effect with IFS, you will find that your average wheel allignment shop only does half of whats needed to get the allignment right! & they don't torque the fasteners nowhere near enough.

I have the 4inch PRO-COMP drop kit in mine & that just makes things move around even more but i recently replaced all the bolts with stronger versions & torqued them down hard the Rancho rs9000 shocks absorb all the jolts well to keep impact stress down & now the suspension geometry hasn't budged for the last two hard trips... But never the less im still SASing it!

Cheers for the feedback, I've got ironman nitro gas shocks under it, need a new steer damper and will get under and lock everything tight.
Being a bit more sensible might work, but its not as fun
