Steel for ute sides

I'm building a tray for the Iveco,

Looking for the folded sheet sides - Is this something you can buy by the meter are do I just get them folded up?

Where is the best place to buy the hardware like hinges / latches etc

It won't be a one off - so I am looking for ongoing, consistent supply, in QLD ideally,

A trailer builder may be able to supply but most likely you will need to get the sheet folded.

Best hinges are 9/16 rod and 15nb heavy wall pipe.

one rod is cut 15mm longer or so.
the hinge in 50mm wide of pipe above.
another inch of pipe and the rod is welded to inch long pipe..
basically plug welded.
You use a bit of 50 by 6 or 8 from the dropside and it gets welded to the pipe.

we ended up getting one piece hinge and pin setup.

the pipe and rod is a better setup by far..

just the right amount of play...

hated the one peice setup..

dont go the cheap antilock pins bunnings sell
get the proper brand stuff.

better by far in every way.

there are some massive dealers in oz with all the gear youll want to run

but cant think of a name.

framed sides beat sheetmetal sides all day every day.
sheet sides are flimsy and look cheap...
and easier to cover up big gaps when they use angle. ..

if it's not going to be a one of, look at getting the profile you want rolled in long lengths rather than folded.

rolled sections will be consistent and 100% repeatable, individually folded sections will vary every time depending on skill/care factor of the operator

Check out the online catalogue or give the guys a call at Active Fabrications. I've found them to be very well priced and they give excellent service. Pretty sure they do everything you're looking for.

I found that tray mobs want way too much for sides. I drew mine up and they cost $78 each for 2mm thick x 300mm tall at 2400 long.
I just went to the local laser cutter and folder. They are 40 mm deep so I use 40 x 5 angle at the ends, pretty sure you can convert all that to suit your sizes.
