Very helpful, and does good prices wherever he can. Just remember that KOH is coming up and there may be some small delays as the US wheeling scene virtually shuts down for KOH

Good to see. I like RS heims but they're a bit painful to deal with. If Mick's going to stock them and the aussie customer can deal with Mick instead of the guys there then that's a big plus.

He has $hitloads in stock, he must have bought everything RS had in stock at once. Now if i could just convince him to sponsor an acutally running buggy then we could service ours and get some more speed in the rocks...... hahahahaha

I only needed the actuall heim itself and a few different types of tabs hence why I went straight through ruffstuff plus I got what I needed for the same price with shipping as what it was gonna cost me to just get the heims over here

The support and realistic prices I have received from ruffstuff specialties is incredible, what they give back to the 4x4 community know one in Australia even comes close. I will continue to buy from them, you just have more $$$ than me if you can afford to support the Aussie company's and there mark ups lol.

I've gotten most of my stuff through Pete at OPW. The prices were fair and in fact he save me some coin on shipping. He made some money on some parts and none on others. He and Tazz were also very patient with all my questions and organising payment for stuff. I spent a lot of money on parts but all fair prices.

Have a look at the prices the guys ended up paying for the Artec Chassis once landed in Australia and how long it took for them to finally get here. About $6300 landed in OZ. Now have a look at the price of the Ibex chassis that Mick is selling just to help get the competitions up and running with these kinds of buggies and also the extra work he put in doing some design work and talking with CAMS to make sure they could be run in class 8.

Now have a look at the money and effort that he puts into many many local competitions because he is the same as us and loves competing off road and then tell me that what you just posted is still correct.

Now Mick is taking a lot of the American import stuff off his books because the local market just isn't there and its costing him money because people are happier to just do individual purchases overseas themselves. But they just look at the purchase price. Not everything else that goes into importing stuff. They are business' not charities. A lot of the cost is imort fees. Not as much markup as you think.

Fair enough. You have your reasons. But I see all the time in threads like this where people will always recommend overseas companies straight away without even giving a thought to local companies. There really are some great companies here that are more than happy to help but there are also a lot of idiots that unfortunately seem to outnumber the few good guys that actually give good service and prices.

I just compared the 2 sites ruffstuff wants ~$86 Aud for 2 3/4" heim complete sets (+ freight to australia), Superior wants $95 Aud . As you can see Mick would be offereing them more as a service than as something they are going to make any money out of....

Thats very true. The top end stuff that Mick supplies is mostly to help other guys get into the competition scene and make it more fun for everyone including him. He helps a lot of guys out at cost and puts a lot back into the sport. The normal run of the mill stuff is where he makes his money. But specialised stuff you will find he makes bugger all money from. Especially if you were to calculate the time and effort he puts into getting the stuff here in the first place.

All I'm saying is to look local. I mean really look at the whole local picture before shoping overseas for this stuff.

some people dont like organizing things from overseas and the likes of Superior have them 100% but others that have dealt with overseas companies are happy to continue to.

superior doing large orders will be subject to import costs where the average person doesnt if its under the $1000.
there are also very cheap importing options now. So the people that shop Overseas will continue to that and the american market has become easier to deal with and are more willing to ship and help these days.

certain things that can be bought cheaper are better bought local as warranty issues are easier dealt with local. Every item will be different in peoples builds and budgets.

at the end of the day if i can get more with the money i work for overseas then thats where ill go.

I've done both.

I bought a shit load of fuel stuff today from a local supplier. Why? because i know exactly dick about spark plug engines and their requirements and even less about fuel plumbing for a race car. If i try and get the parts from the states i'm very likely to get the wrong stuff and have to do it twice. So i rang a local shop and thrashed out a plan for what we need based on his experience and recommendations.

My credit card is feeling thoroughly arse raped but i can be fairly sure that i've got what i need and don't have to try and flog off unneeded parts and wait for shipping all over again.
