vehicles to base on.....

Rather than clog up Bru's build thread I thought I would start another.
Where I work we have access to some pretty unusual vehicles due to the environment we work- namely sand and lots of it.
This is not your usual flat beach sand but rolling hills of the stuff.

An assortment of vehicles that passed the crib room on Friday

Crane Truck- dual locked super singles- our heavy mover but not really maneuverable (better for our "dozed" roads and built ramps




Service truck again with super singles- this can access more parts of the site, but can struggle- lucky for onboard air


Compressor truck

lift truck

Fuel truck- might give a hint to where I work, helo working getting water


what we have to do to move road going vehicles around , be nice to have this sort of support for when bogged on expedition

mind you when a swampy goes down you know your in trouble......

dealing direct with Iveco should enable you to fit the 37" tyres without the speed rating in the ECU being dropped?

I'm really looking at one of these with a camping box on the dual cab and still tow the offroad van- as such I don't want the rear "incorporated" into the cab, are you looking at doing this?

keen to see what develops, and some real world testing.

I have access to a "raw" testing ground on Stradbroke Island, as we are also looking at fleet vehicles for the sand mine, these things being more sturdy and fit for purpose (maybe) than the v8 cruiser utes or the isuzu NPR trucks or the MAN 8x8 we currently use

The skid for the crane by itself weighs 14 tonne

finally got the pic of the 8x8 man

there is another one on site that is a service truck- it has proven a bit top heavy, and does not like side slopes

these things go pretty well- all axles have diff locks, but the suspension is pretty hard, no articulation

Those can be had 'dirt cheap' overseas. I love those MAN KATs but the fuel bill would be absolutely ridiculous

You know that aint a swampy don't you, thats just a regular D8T

Swampy's are generally D6's with LGP after the model number.

That d8 is a lgp dozer, it is a special build, made to order by CAT
We also have d6 and a new d7 electric swampies
Will confirm the width of the ground plates tomorrow

There wouldn't be too many in Australia of that size due to specialised use, pushing slurry sand
