Post by SierraDan »

Trail-Gear is proud to announce our new addition to the Rock Assault product line, the Rock Assault Nissan Patrol Birfield Kit. The Rock Assault Nissan Patrol Birfield Kit is made out of nothing but the best materials. The Rock Assault Nissan Patrol birfield housing is made out of forged 4340 chromoly steel. The axle shafts are also made out of 4340 chromoly steel. The internals of our Rock Assault Nissan Patrol birfields are made out of 300M chromoly steel.

Note: Some minor clearancing of the knuckle ball may be required.

Good price too.
Makes the Cals option look a bit exspesive at alost twice the price and a questionable warrenty

What question? There IS NO WARRANTY. I know ive broken them. I had to buy replacements.

At that price I'd give them a go
..... just not thro lowrange. I'd also be worried about the warranty. Seen the problems people have getting Hilux cvs warrantied.

Interested too see how they go!

That what I meant. Having not had personal experance with Cals warranty, was not going to dis the warrenty on hear say. Shame you had to find this out the hard way.
Even if there is Dramas with the lowrange warrenty at least the price is a lot easyer to justify.

Any guess how a set of those would go in a GQ compared to me replacing the whole diff with a stock GU diff?

Anyone running these in a GQ ute?
How much clearancing was required to fit? How are they going?

Interested in buying a set but keen to see how people have found them before spending the money.

What are you doing for hubs / hub gears with the stronger axles now the hubs are already another weak point? Will them be making chromo hub gears so you don’t start stripping the splines on the cv?

i ran these in tuff trucking my gu ute, other then them having c clip issues like the cal off road ones, they are pretty tuff, i broke one inner bell, dropped 2 short side axles out and twisted one inner spline
overall they are decent
i also am running full replacement moly drive hubs if anyone is interested in a set pm me

How much are the hubs?

Was the C clip issue something they have rectified?

Are you still running these CVs or have you gone another path after the "decent" but not really as good as may have been hoped performance?

Hubs are $700 a pair,
group buys will make them cheaper, they are full 4130 with stainless end caps and anodized any colour.

Tg have now admitted to their being a c clip issue and are replacing the ones that failed free of charge and also suppling new/bigger c clips,
I am still using them as theirs not many other options other then nitro which im yet to try out
